In brief: Brazil’s vehicle production and sales down in monthly terms

*Brazil’s national association of vehicle manufacturers (Anfavea) has released its production and sale figures for September, which showed that 230,000 vehicles were produced and 236,300 were sold. The monthly production figure was down 11.4% compared to August, while sales were down 0.4%. However, production and sales registered year-on-year increases. Compared to September 2023, vehicle production rose by 10.1%, while sales were up 19.5%. In the first nine months of 2024, 1.87m units were produced, up 7.0% from the same period in 2023. Total sales came to 1.86m in January-September, up 14.1% from last year. Anfavea also released figures for vehicle exports, which totalled 41,600 in September this year, up 8.9% from August and up 51.7% year-on-year. The accumulated export figure for January-September, on the other hand, of 284,200 units, was down 12.0% from the same period in 2023.
