*Mexico’s senate has voted by 86 in favour to 39 against to approve a constitutional reform initiative related to “strategic areas and companies”. The reform, which amends articles 25, 27, and 28 of the constitution, bolsters the State-run electricity (CFE) and oil (Pemex) firms, as well as stipulating that the State’s functions in regard to lithium and internet provision cannot be considered a monopoly. The reform was passed by the lower chamber on 9 October.
