*Honduras’ central bank (BCH) has released new figures that show that the country’s monthly indicator of economic activity (Imae) was up by 2.9% in August compared with the same month of 2023. Accumulated growth in the first eight months of the year was 4.2%. This compares with year-on-year growth of 3.4% in July, while accumulated growth in the first seven months of the year was 4.3%. Key contributors to accumulated growth in the first eight months included financial intermediation, insurance and pension funds (+12.9% year-on-year), electricity and water (+9.2%) and private construction (+6.8%). The sectors that registered a decline as compared to the same period of 2023 were the manufacturing industry (-1.6%) and agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing (-0.5%).
