*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the report for its monthly index of industrial activity (Imai), showing that industrial activity dropped by 1.2% in monthly terms and was down by 3.3% in yearly terms in October. This follows monthly growth of 0.6% in September, when the Imai showed no variation in yearly terms. The monthly decrease in October was driven by a 1.9% drop in industrial manufacturing and in mining, while utilities (electricity generation and transmission, provision of water and gas) grew by 0.4% and construction was up 0.5%. Year-on-year, construction was down 8.9%, mining dropped 6.8%, and manufacturing decreased by 1.2%. Utilities was the only category to register a yearly rise, up 1.4%.
