DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Southern Command presents report on border security

The head of the US Southern Command, Bantz J. Craddock, met President Leonel Fernández and the armed forces minister, Admiral Sigfrido Pared Pérez, on 30 November to present a study with recommendations for improving border security with Haiti. Fernández requested the study while visiting his US counterpart George W. Bush in May this year. He said that it will enable the Dominican Republic to help clampdown on drug-trafficking and contraband from Haiti.
