In brief: Argentina’s external debt drops

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has published new figures which show that the country’s external debt totalled US$276.14bn in the final quarter of 2024, down US$5.96bn from the previous quarter. Indec said that the decrease was mainly driven by a US$2.54bn drop in the debt of non-financial corporations, households, and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs), a US$2.36bn drop in general government debt, and a US$1.41bn drop in central bank debt.
