Regional constitutional developments in 2024

Agenda Estado de Derecho, a Latin American online portal specialising in constitutional and legal matters, identified what it described as the ten major constitutional developments in Latin America in 2024. Two of them – the wide ranging and authoritarian re-drafting of the Nicaraguan constitution, and the Mexican experiment with the direct election of judges, are covered separately in this report. The remaining eight, however, give a useful snapshot of the diverse issues facing the region’s policy makers.
