Milei forces through judicial picks

In a move which bypassed the senate, on 26 February President Javier Milei directly appointed two controversial supreme court (CSJN) nominees by presidential decree. The move comes after nearly a year of impasse in the upper house, and the decree has been lambasted by human rights experts as an affront to Argentina’s judicial independence.
