*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the mid-month inflation figures for April, showing a monthly inflation rate of 0.43%. This marks a deceleration from the 0.64% monthly inflation registered for mid-March. However, the annual inflation rate for the 12 months until mid-April 2025 stood at 5.49%, up from the annual rate of 5.26% for the 12 months until mid-March. All but one of the nine categories of products and services measured by the Ibge posted a monthly rise in prices in mid-April this year. The only category to see monthly deflation was transport (-0.44%). The categories that saw the highest monthly price rises were food and drinks (+1.14%) and health and personal care (+0.96%).
