Dominican President Luis Abinader rebuffed criticism of his government this week over its deportation of Haitians. Haiti’s transitional presidential council (CPT) issued a statement on 24 April condemning the “especially disturbing” conditions surrounding the expulsion of Haitian citizens in the wake of the introduction of a new protocol for the access of migrants to public health services in the Dominican Republic. Concern was also expressed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations, and Amnesty International.
