Argentina’s security minister, Patricia Bullrich, has enlisted in the ranks of President Javier Milei’s ruling far-right La Libertad Avanza (LLA) party. Bullrich, who stood against Milei in the last presidential elections for the right-of-centre Propuesta Republicana (PRO), announced her switch in allegiance on 6 May. Her relations soured with the leader of the PRO, former president Mauricio Macri (2015-2019), after she entered the cabinet even though the PRO has been broadly supportive of the Milei administration in congress. The PRO has refused to fuse with the LLA and tensions are heightening as legislative elections in the City of Buenos Aires later this month and mid-term federal congressional elections in October approach.
