BOLIVIA: Minimum wage hike outpaced by galloping inflation

On 28 April Bolivia’s president Luis Arce confirmed that his government had decided to increase the national minimum wage by 10% from B$2,500 (US$360) to B$ 2,750 (US$398) per month. The so-called ‘base salary’, which applies to public sector workers who earn over the minimum wage, will rise by 5%. This figure of 5% is also the recommended increase in wages for those in the private sector who earn over the minimum wage.
