*The Dominican Republic’s customs authority (DGA) has released new figures showing that the country’s exports in May totalled a record US$1.4bn, up 13.4% on May 2024. According to the same report, exports to the US, the main destination for Dominican exports, reached US$688.5m in May 2025, up 4.7% year-on-year. Meanwhile exports to Haiti, the second main destination for Dominican exports, totalled US$93.3m in May 2025, up 14.9% on May 2024. According to the DGA report, leading exports included gold (worth over US$258m), which was up 141% year-on-year, for which India is the main destination. The second main export was medical apparatus and instruments, worth US$171.6m, up 5.1%, In the first five months of 2025, Dominican exports totalled US$5.6bn, up 8.6% on the same period in 2024, of which goods sent from duty-free zones accounted for 62.5% of the total.
