*Argentina’s economy ministry has released its fiscal statistics for May, showing that the public sector registered a primary surplus of Ar$1.7tn (US$1.5bn) and a financial surplus of Ar$662.1bn. In monthly terms, the primary surplus is up from Ar$845.95bn in April, while the financial surplus is up from Ar$572.34bn. Both figures are also up from March, when the primary surplus was Ar$745.34bn and the financial surplus was Ar$389.91bn. However, the results in May mark a 27.2% decrease from the surplus in May 2024, while the financial surplus is down 44.1% year-on-year. The public sector’s revenue in May 2025 totalled Ar$11.4tn, up 23.6% on the same month last year. Monthly expenditure stood at Ar$9.7tn, up 40.8% year-on-year.
