Argentina’s former president Cristina Fernández (2007-2015) was not escorted to the federal palace of justice on 18 June by a throng of supporters in the end. The supreme court (CSJN) formally granted Fernández the right to serve her six-year prison sentence for corruption in the ‘Vialidad’ case under house arrest. It also announced that there would be no need for her to show up in-person at the federal place of justice, which precluded the main opposition Partido Justicialista (PJ, Peronist) from carrying out what it had billed as “the biggest march in history” to accompany her.
