In brief: Uruguay hails rise in tourism
*Uruguay’s tourism ministry has released new figures showing a total of 1.37m people visited the country in the first quarter of 2025, spending US$891m. This compares with 1.14m who visited Uruguay in the first quarter of 2024 when they spent US$711m. According to the same figures, in the first quarter of 2025, of the total, 974,742 visitors were Argentine, while 111,988 were Brazilian, 61,631 were European, and 37,064 were North American.
