*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has announced that the country registered a trade surplus of US$608m in May, marking the 18
th consecutive month of positive trade balances. May’s surplus was up from a surplus of US$204m
in April but down US$2.05bn on the surplus registered in May 2024. In May 2025 exports totalled US$7.10bn, down 7.4% year-on-year, while imports totalled US$6.49bn, up 29.4% year-on-year. Argentina’s most valuable export in May was manufactured agricultural products, totalling US$2.49bn (-11.3% year-on-year). Brazil remained the country’s top export market, receiving US$1.15bn of exports in May, followed by China (US$823m), and the European Union (US$771m). Brazil also accounted for the most imports, totalling US$1.76bn (+56.3%), followed by China on US$1.25bn (+62.4%), and the European Union with US$965m (+25.7%).
