A simplified view of the global automobile industry in 2025 is that at least two revolutions are playing out in tandem over the next few years. One is technology-driven and involves all sorts of things that are happening
inside the motor vehicle. They include the replacement of fossil fuel-burning internal combustion engines with electric power trains, and the introduction of sophisticated sensors and computer systems that enable full or partly autonomous driving. In fact, some of these changes radically challenge the entire way we think about mobility. In the not-too-distant future for example, we may see the spread of autonomous electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) craft as well as driverless “robotaxis”. Giant leaps in technology are driving forward the definition of what is possible in the field of mobility.
