HONDURAS: Electoral authority fixes one problem – of many

The decision of Honduras’ national electoral council (CNE) on 4 August to approve new rules for a preliminary vote counting system may have put an end to a dispute that threatened to derail general elections due on 30 November. But major concerns remain regarding the integrity of the electoral process following chaotic primaries in March, while electoral violence remains a serious threat.
