*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures showing that the unemployment rate in the May-July rolling quarter was 8.7% – unchanging on the same period in 2024, and down 0.2 percentage points on the immediately preceding April-June rolling quarter. In seasonally adjusted terms, unemployment stood at 8.6% from May-July, down 0.3 percentage points compared with the previous quarter. In year-on-year terms, the INE calculated that the number of people in work had increased by 0.8% in the May-July period. The informality rate reached 26.0%, down 0.4 percentage points on the same period of 2024.
