In brief: Mexico announces anti-dumping measures for Chinese shoes

*Mexico’s economy ministry (SE) has announced compensatory tariffs on imports of Chinese-manufactured footwear in response to dumping practices that it said have been carried out by Chinese exporters. In a statement, the SE said that for the next five years, imports of Chinese shoes costing less than US$22.58 per pair will be subject to compensatory tariffs of between US$0.54 and US$22.50 per pair. This, it said, is needed to ensure fair competition and protect Mexican manufacturing. The announcement marks the resolution of an anti-dumping investigation that was launched by Mexico in April 2024.
