BRAZIL: Far right holds final rallies before Bolsonaro’s conviction

The 7 September Independence Day events in Brazil have in recent years become a major occasion for the far right. During his term in office, former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023) revelled in the military pageantry of the official celebrations and used the platform to lambast the country’s institutions, such as the supreme court (STF).
