Jorge ‘Tuto’ Quiroga accused his rival in the upcoming second round of presidential elections in Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz, of “manipulating hatred and selling fear, nothing else” this week. Quiroga, a former interim president (2001-2002), was responding to the latest development in an aggressive run-off campaign, which has seen his running mate, Juan Pablo Velasco, come under fire for racist comments in social media posts dating back more than a decade.
