GUATEMALA | Fitch upgrade. The international credit ratings agency Fitch Ratings announced on 14 October that it had upgraded Guatemala’s Long-Term Foreign and Local Currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to ‘BB+’ from ‘BB’, with a stable outlook. In a statement, Fitch said that the upgrade reflects “solid and stable growth, longstanding policy prudence, and current account surpluses that support a build-up in external buffers”.
