ARGENTINA: Milei accused of misconduct in cryptocurrency scandal
Argentina’s President Javier Milei misused his position to promote the cryptocurrency token $Libra in February, a congressional commission concluded this week, resulting in heavy losses for investors. The findings of the report are nominally a setback for Milei, coinciding with an advance in a corruption case implicating his sister and chief adviser Karina Milei, but they are unlikely to amount to much in practice. President Milei will shortly benefit from a more favourable congress resulting from last month’s mid-term elections, which will be sworn in on 10 December.
