COLOMBIA: Petro left scrambling amid accusations of guerrilla links

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro has been left reeling following reports that top officials in the military and intelligence services colluded with dissident guerrillas from the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc). Making matters even worse, the same media investigation also highlighted potential links between Farc dissidents and Petro’s 2022 election campaign. Petro has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the report is based on false information sown by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
