Paraguayan opposition cements electoral unity

Paraguay’s opposition parties struck an electoral alliance on 21 November for the key position of mayor of Asunción next year. The alliance has been in the works for several months but its concretion looks like an attempt to capitalise on the unity which carried the opposition to a comprehensive victory over the ruling Asociación Nacional Republicana-Partido Colorado (ANR-PC) in the recent mayoral elections in the country’s second most populous city of Ciudad del Este [WR-25-45].
