REGION: Sweden discontinues annual aid

The governments of Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador are coming to terms with the decision by the Swedish government to discontinue the annual aid it has been providing for well over a decade. Sweden has been one of the most generous foreign aid contributors to the three countries and its decision to call time on its provision of funds, which will now need to be found from alternative sources, sparked political wrangling between the governments and the opposition, especially in Honduras.
