Peru’s presidential elections next April will see a huge field of 36 candidates competing. The national electoral council (JNE) published the final list on 16 December after an eleventh-hour decision to bar the participation of the centrist Acción Popular (AP) amid allegations of electoral fraud in the party primaries. A further two parties - Ciudadanos por el Perú and Frente Popular Agrícola del Perú (Frepap) - presented lists for the concurrent elections to the lower chamber of congress and the senate but not presidential tickets.
