In brief: Argentina’s economic activity down in monthly terms, up year-on-year

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released its estimate for economic activity (Emae) in October, showing a monthly decrease in activity of 0.4% and a year-on-year increase of 3.2%. The latest monthly decrease comes after two consecutive months of rises in activity, with the Emae for August and September both registering monthly increases of 0.6%. The latest Indec report highlighted significant year-on-year increases in sectors such as fishing, which posted 91.4% rise in activity compared to October 2024, and financial services, up 22.8%. Year-on-year decreases were registered in hotels and restaurants (-1.0%), public administration, defence, and compulsory social security schemes (-0.8%), and manufacturing (-2.7%).
