In brief: Uruguay’s inflation slows

*Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released the latest figures for its consumer price index (IPC), putting monthly inflation at –0.09% in December, while the annual rate stood at 3.65%. The latest figures mark a deceleration from the 0.14% monthly inflation and 4.09% annual inflation registered for November. Of the 13 categories of products and services measured by the INE, eight saw a monthly rise in prices. The greatest monthly inflation rates were registered in restaurants and accommodation (+1.15%), and recreation, sport, and culture (+1.08%). The two categories that posted the highest monthly deflation rates were housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (-1.44%) and food and non-alcoholic drinks (-0.36%).
