In brief: Dominican Republic posts record tourism

*The Dominican Republic’s tourism ministry has released new figures showing that 11.68m tourists visited the country in 2025, which it said was up 4.3% on 2024 and up 13.3% on 2023, and represented a “historic record”. Tourism Minister David Collado said that in December alone, the country received a total of 1.39m tourists, up 14.2% on the same month in 2024. He said that the countries sending most tourists were the US, Canada, Argentina, and Colombia although he did not provide further details. He also said that hotel occupation exceeded 71% through the year.
