BRAZIL: Lula vetoes part of budget legislation
On 14 January the Brazilian government’s official gazette reported that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has partially promulgated the 2026 budget bill (PLOA), rejecting sections involving the so-called ‘emendas parlamentares’, earmarked grants from the federal budget allocated for projects chosen by legislators.
