In brief: Panama closes 2025 with annual deflation

*Panama’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released new figures showing that monthly inflation in December was 0.1%, up from 0.02% in November. This brings the annual rate to -0.2% in December. Six of the 13 categories posted price rises including food and non-alcoholic drinks (0.8%), and housing, water, electricity, and gas (0.2%), while categories to post price decreases included alcoholic drinks and tobacco (-0.2%) and clothing and shoes (-0.2%).
