*Brazil’s federal tax authority (RFB) has released the annual tax revenue figures for 2025, showing a total of R$2.89tn (US$540bn). This marks a real increase of 3.65% compared to 2024. In a press release, the tax authority highlighted that annual revenue in 2025 was the highest on record since the RFB began recording these figures in 1995. The annual rise in tax revenue was attributed to various factors, including positive macroeconomic indicators. The RFB stated that industrial production from December 2024-November 2025 saw a slight rise of 0.17% compared to the preceding 12-month period, while services were up 2.72% in year-on-year terms. During this period, the RFB’s figures also show that total wages in the country registered an annual rise of 10.9%. Regarding specific levies, the RFB also highlighted increased revenue from taxes on financial operations (IOF) and the PIS/Cofins federal consumption taxes.
