In brief: Inflation picks up in Ecuador

*Ecuador’s national statistics institute (Inec) has published the latest consumer price index, putting monthly inflation in January at 0.37% – up from -0.14% in December. The annual inflation rate in January was 2.44%, up from 1.91% the previous month. The steepest monthly price rises were in the categories of food and non-alcoholic drinks (+0.22%), diverse goods and services (+0.10%), and furniture, household goods, and maintenance products (+0.05%).
