*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures for its consumer price index (IPC), which put monthly inflation in January at 2.9% and annual inflation at 32.4%. This is up from a monthly rate of 2.8%
in December, when annual inflation stood at 31.5%. This marks the fifth consecutive month of rises in the monthly rate. Of the 12 categories of products and services measured by Indec, the categories with the highest monthly price increases in January were food and non-alcoholic drinks (+4.7%), restaurants and hotels (+4.1%), and telecommunications (+3.6%).
