*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has announced that the country received 47.79m international tourists in 2025, marking a 6.1% annual increase. Revenue from international tourism also rose by 4.9% to US$31.72bn. Overall visitor numbers, comprising international tourists and day-trippers, were up 13.6% year-on-year at 98.20m. In December 2025 alone, 10.13m international tourists arrived in Mexico, up 12.3% from the same month in 2024, according to Inegi. Of these, 5.22m (51.5%) were international tourists and 4.91m (48.5%) were day-trippers. Mexico was the sixth most visited country in the world in 2024 according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization. President Claudia Sheinbaum aspires to position Mexico among the top five countries by 2030.
