In brief: Brazil’s services sector posts slower growth

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures on the country’s services sector, showing that the total volume of services provided in December 2025 dropped by 0.4% compared to November, while the accumulated annual volume for 2025 was up 2.8% on the previous year. This annual result marks a slight deceleration from the accumulated annual growth of 3.1% registered for 2024. In December, three of the five categories of services saw a monthly decline in volume, with the greatest drops registered in transport and postal services (-3.1%) and other services (-3.4%). Meanwhile, four categories posted a yearly rise in the 2025 accumulated annual figures. Information and communications services registered the greatest annual rise, with an increase of 5.5% compared to the accumulated volume of 2024. The only category to post an annual decline, with a decrease of 0.5% was other services.
