Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has begun a five-day state visit to India after which he will visit South Korea from 22-24 February. According to a Brazilian government press release, the Brazilian delegation will discuss the strengthening of trade and other areas of cooperation with both countries. The same statement notes that Lula’s visit to India’s capital, New Delhi, will mark a continuation of the efforts to foster bilateral ties from the state visit that India’s Prime Minister

in July last year, whereas South Korea’s President
Lee Jae Myung has yet to visit Brazil or any Latin American country since taking office in June last year. According to the same government statement, Brazil’s exports to India totalled US$6.9bn in 2025 while imports from India totalled US$8.3bn. Meanwhile Brazil’s exports to South Korea last year totalled US$5.5bn, while imports totalled US$5.3bn.
