Latin America swings to the right

This year, several important Latin American countries are changing political direction. Analysts have in the past argued that Latin America experienced a pink tide – a swing to the left -- in the first decade of the 21st century. By the 2020s a more conservative approach had already begun to spread through the region, favouring not only traditional, establishment parties, but also more far-right, outsider or anti-system politicians.
