*A new survey by Honduras’ national public university Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras has shown that the country closed 2025 with an unemployment rate of 6.14%, down from 7.20% the previous year. The survey reflects regional disparities however, ranging from 7.08% in the central region to 2.97% in the western region. Unemployment was the
main voter concern ahead of the November 2025 general election which produced a victory for
Nasry Asfura of the conservative Partido Nacional (PN), who took office on 27 January.
