VENEZUELA: Anti-regime protests spring up as fear dissipates

Venezuela saw its first coordinated anti-government protests in over a year on 12 February, when thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in cities across the country to demand the release of all political prisoners. The protests suggest that the public is feeling emboldened amid a loosening of repression since Nicolás Maduro (2013-2026) was succeeded by Delcy Rodríguez.
