BRAZIL: Lula signs deals with Asian partners
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva led a government delegation to visit India and South Korea from 18-24 February. The efforts to deepen ties with both countries are consistent with the Brazilian foreign policy tradition of fostering relations with a broad range of partner countries, and the move to diversify its trade portfolio also comes amid anticipation ahead of Lula’s expected trip to Washington in March, when Brazil will hope to seal an agreement to reduce or remove tariffs on its exports to the US.
