*Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has released the latest figures for its economic activity index (Imacec) which showed a 0.1% year-on-year fall in January, and a 0.2% rise compared to December. This compares with an annual increase in the Imacec of 1.7%
in December when economic activity rose 0.6% in monthly terms. According to the BCCh the year-on-year result was explained by a 1.5% fall in goods production (which also fell 0.7% in monthly terms), which was partially offset by a 1.4% rise in services year-on-year (which rose 0.8% in monthly terms). Trade was up 0.4% year-on-year but was down 0.1% in monthly terms. The non-mining Imacec showed no annual variation and was up 0.1% in monthly terms.
