*Costa Rica’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released new figures showing that the country posted monthly deflation of -0.22% in February, bringing the year-on-year rate to -2.73%. This follows monthly deflation of -0.96% in January, when the year-on-year rate was -2.53%. An Inec press release highlights that the goods and services driving monthly deflation in February were petrol (-3.07%), eggs (-13.15%), and new cars (-1.37%). Meanwhile the categories most contributing to monthly deflation were transport (-1.24%) and food and non-alcoholic drinks (-0.63%).
