In brief: Dominican Republic hails rise in tourism

*The Dominican Republic’s tourism ministry has released new figures showing that 1.18m tourists visited the country in February, which it said was up 13.1% on the same month in 2025, up 11.9% on 2024, and up 64.2% on 2019, the year before the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic struck. Tourism Minister David Collado said most tourists came from the US (39%), followed by Canada (24%), Argentina (6%), France (4%), and Colombia (3%). The Dominican Republic posted record tourism in 2025 with 11.68m tourists visiting the country in 2025, up 4.3% on 2024 and up 13.3% on 2023.
