In brief: Mexico’s economic activity down in monthly terms

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released its latest global indicator of economic activity (Igae), showing a drop of 0.9% compared to the previous month but growth of 0.5% in yearly terms, on seasonally adjusted figures. This follows monthly growth of 0.2% in December, when the Igae was up by 2.3% year-on-year, according to the latest figures. Activity in the primary (agriculture) sector dropped by 3.7% in monthly terms while those in the secondary (manufacturing) sector were down 1.1% and the tertiary (services) sector down 0.6%. In yearly terms, activity in the primary sector were up by 2.4% and those in the tertiary sector increased by 0.9%, while the secondary sector saw activity fall by 0.1%.
