After months of media speculation regarding his political ambitions, Brazil’s finance minister, Fernando Haddad, of the ruling left-wing Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT), has stepped down from his cabinet role and confirmed that he will run for the governorship of the country’s wealthiest and most populous state, São Paulo.
