Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has pledged to push for better conditions at US immigration detention facilities following the death of another Mexican under the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The death followed those of two other Mexicans in ICE facilities in the space of a month and comes as the number of deaths of migrants under ICE custody has surged since President Donald Trump took office in January 2025, pledging to crack down on irregular migration.
